Their Ministry
Jon and Kelly Simpson work to strengthen local churches by ministering to the leadership and members through discipleship and Biblical training. Our current involvement in Biblical education and instruction within the Mobile Bible Institute includes teaching classes and developing course materials. The Institute in El Salvador ministers to more than 200 students in five local churches. All students are active through their congregation in some type of ministry - pastoral, evangelism, youth ministry, Sunday School.
The other focus of our ministry is personal discipleship in both an individual as well as group setting. In this, we emphasize the life of Christ that brings the inward transformation of the believer and its resulting outward manifestation. Besides training in the Christian Life, we also look for opportunities to come alongside those who are involved in or are looking to get involved in youth ministry to give them encouragement and orientation. In El Salvador, there is not only a great necessity to minister to people under the age of twenty-five (more than half of the country's population), but also there is great necessity for a proper perspective and focus for reaching out to them and meeting their unique needs.
Support From John Knox
Jon and Kelly also host many short term mission teams from the United States. As of 2008, John Knox has sent 3 teams in the past. In addition, John Knox's own Sue Hartman has gone to El Salvador 10 times over a 12 year span.
John Knox has pledged $2,000 from their mission budget to support the Simpson's outreach ministry in El Salvador.
