All Church Intergenerational Retreat
It's time to retreat to a most beautiful spot in God's creation - namely Camp Pyoca in Brownstown, Indiana!! Our annual weekend away takes place Friday, September 22nd through Sunday, September 24th. You can come for the entire weekend, for just the day on Saturday, or even just come for worship on Sunday!! We're pretty flexible!! Brownstown is relatively close - only 1 1/2 hours south of Indy!!And the prices for this get-away are pretty reasonable. Registration brochures are available on the literature rack outside the church office with more details about the weekend.
The weekend begins Friday evening with a pizza dinner, a vesper service, and then a game time/free time/fellowship time following. Saturday morning begins with a study & discussion time for the adults with our retreat leader, and a children's time with Pastor Lisa. The afternoon is a free time for the most part with plenty of options. There's always a hot dog roast Saturday evening and fun and fellowship around the campfire. Sunday morning features a worship service with communion and perhaps enough time to hike around the lake before heading back to Indianapolis and reality!!
Rev. Gracie Hellweg Payne will be our speaker at this year's retreat. Gracie is a graduate of Indiana University (BA Communications, English) and Princeton Theological Seminary (M.Div.) She serves at Second Presbyterian Church where she ministers with those in their twenties and thirties. She will be sharing with us a topic entitled "No Ordinary Time". Journeying through 1 Peter, we'll consider how Christianity, and the Church, have grown up in extra-ordinary times and how the challenges we face in this world, our lives, and our faith are the anvil on which our hope and our witness are sharpened.
