New Communion Ware Dedicated

Betty Baird joined John Knox Presbyterian Church three months after it was organized in 1962, and she served as the church's first secretary as it began its ministry. She sang in the chancel choir for all that time, and was an active leader of the Presbyterian Women's organization. Betty died in September 2016, and we give thanks to God for her life of service and discipleship.

Betty's family was generous in allowing us to look at a specific way the church might use the memorial monies given in Betty's honor. With her family's blessing, we sought to replace the pitchers and chalices which are used at both of our worship services for celebrating the Lord's Supper. A local potter, Anthony Schumann, handmade seven new chalices and a pitcher to be used at our 11am service. The chalices are modeled after the ones we have used in that service for 20 years, which were handmade by one of our members, Ann Owen. The two brass chalices and pitcher will be used at our 9am service, while we will continue to use the bread plate that has been used since the church was founded.

May God bless these earthly vessels as they hold the symbols of God's invisible grace!
