There are many ways you can become involved at JKPC:
Come and meet our Music Team! Our interim Choir Director, David Barnhouse and Organist, Madelin Foster would love to help you find ways to get involved. Whether singing or playing an instrument, we encourage all to share their gifts to enhance our worship.
Chancel Choir - The Chancel Choir sings every Sunday morning at the 10am Worship Service from September through early June and at special services. We welcome all singers of middle school age and older. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings at 6pm.
Hand Bell Choir - Our Hand Bell Choir offer special music throughout the year (typically Christmas and Easter) and practices intermittently.
Special Music - During the summer while our Chancel Choir takes a break, we welcome folks to share their love of music with us!
If you are interested in participating in any of these groups, please see or contact David Barnhouse via email.
All women of John Knox Presbyterian Church (members and/or friends) are considered to be part of this group! There are no monthly meetings, but PW is very active in supporting the church and its members in many ways. There are special dinners (with entertainment) in December and May, fundraisers (a garage sale in the spring and bake sale in the fall) to support our mission giving, and provision of a dinner for a family following the death of a loved one to mention a few.
The PW Coordinating Team oversees all these things. The team meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month (except July) at 6:30pm. Anyone interested in becoming involved in any of these activities should contact the moderator of this group, Bev Ray. You can also watch for information in the monthly Tidings newsletter.
John Knox Presbyterian Church prides itself on being an “Open. Caring. Community.” We like to show our friendliness as we greet everyone at our doors with a smile and/or maybe a fist-bump/elbow-bump. Whether it is your first time with us or you've been walking through these doors for 50+ years, our Usher and Greeter team want to make sure you are able to find what you need. If you would like to be a part of this welcoming team, please contact Susan Roberts.
What a privilege to help with our youngest friends here at John Knox!
If you have a passion for teaching our youth or helping Tina care for our infants and toddlers in the crib room, we'd love to hear about it! Please contact the church office for more information.
The Prayer Ministry Team meets monthly and is led by Ann Hamel. Prayer requests are received by phone (317-291-0308), or by emailing Ann.
The Landscape Team takes on the task of keeping our grounds beautiful and well kept. Special work days are scheduled from time to time to take care of mulching, trimming, raking, dividing hostas, etc. Team members take turns with watering during the hot summer months. If gardening is a passion of yours or you just like working outdoors, please feel free to join this group. Contact Ann Hamel to get involved.
Is technology your spiritual gift or even just a hobby? We have got opportunities for you! Each Sunday, two volunteers are needed in worship to run the sound board, powerpoint, and livestream at the back of the sanctuary. We are also happy to recruit folks to help with the website and our social media space. Contact the church office to learn more!
