There are many ways that we serve our local community, and we hope you’ll feel welcome to find your passion and join us in serving Christ in these ways!
This twice-a-month food pantry is supported by many churches in the Speedway Community, volunteers are welcome to help with preparation and distribution each month. We also collect food on the first Sunday of the month to support The Storehouse. Once a year we also have a food drive called The SOUPER BOWL Sunday collection to help The Storehouse feed families in need in the Speedway Community.
This is a ministry of John Knox that allows us to assist neighbors who need help with basic needs (food, gas, rent, utilities, etc.). We welcome financial and other donations to support this ministry.
On average our facility is used by our community four-times as much as our own church uses it. This includes providing meeting space for Alanon, Alcoholics Anonymous, The Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic, Hispanic Survivors of Domestic Abuse, English as a Second Language Classes, and so much more.
For over fifty years, we have hosted the Speedway Cooperative Preschool at our church, and for more information visit their website.
We love to welcome our community for special events! These include a Community Picnic in August, an Easter Festival the Saturday before Easter, Trunk or Treat/Fall Festival around Halloween, and Worship at Meadowood Park in July. All are welcome to join us and help in whatever way you wish!
We have had a long history of sharing in ministry with our Hispanic sisters and brothers in Christ. That now takes the form of partnering with Iglesia Hermandad Cristiana on events like Vacation Bible School, Soccer Camp, Fall and Easter Festivals.
We support many local ministries in our community, including collecting supplies for Backpack Attack, Coburn Place on Mother’s Day, Hats and Mittens for local elementary schools, gifts for children and families through the Salvation Army Angel Tree, and serving meals at Ronald McDonald House on holidays.
