Now the whole group of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one claimed private ownership of any possessions, but everything they owned was held in common. With great power the apostles gave their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all. There was not a needy person among them, for as many as owned lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold. They laid it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to each as any had need.

Going Forth/Closing Prayer – Lisa Crismore

Announcements:
- Please keep your mask on at all times.
- Please only hum on the hymns/praise songs – please do not sing.
- We have had a long and wonderful partnership with Pyoca Camp and Retreat Center in Brownstown, Indiana, and we are excited to support them in their ongoing ministry with children, youth, and adults. We are going to welcome Molly DeWitt as our guest preacher next Sunday, April 18, as she will share her message virtually with us at both worship services that day. We will also hear about how Pyoca is working hard to make this summer’s camping season safe and fun for children and youth, especially since they had to cancel summer camp last year due to the pandemic.
- The landscape team will be dividing hostas at the church on April 14 at 9am weather permitting. We will have a number of hostas available after 12pm noon on that day and following until all are gone. They will be in pots located in the outside parlor garden area. Hostas will be of various varieties. If anyone would like one, please feel free to come and pick one up. The landscape team simply requests that you make a donation to the landscape fund. Checks can be made out to John Knox and marked landscape fund.
- On April 17 at 9am, the landscape team will be mulching areas around the church weather permitting. If rain, alternate day will be April 24. If anyone is available and willing to assist on that day, it would be much appreciated. Brings gloves, shovels, garden rakes and wheelbarrow if available. Thanks for all your help.
- Summer will be here before you know it – what better way to spend a week of summer than at camp! Pyoca Camp and Retreat Center has a wonderful offering of programs this summer for children and youth everywhere from 3-days to a full week. You can learn more about what is offered this summer, and register online, at Pyoca’s website at: www.pyoca.org. Pyoca is offering camps this summer with reduced capacity and safety protocols in place. If you wish to participate, please register now – spaces are filling-up fast!
- The Presbytery of Whitewater Valley will be ordaining Jillian Flynn to be a minister of the Word and Sacrament at an ordination service on Sunday, April 18, at 4:00pm, at John Knox Presbyterian Church. This service will be led by a commission of the presbytery, chaired by the Moderator of Presbytery, Ruling Elder Mike Whitfield of First Presbyterian Church, Shelbyville. The service will be held in-person and online, streamed on our Facebook Page and church website. We will have more details about the service in our weekly emails and Sunday morning announcements leading up to April 18. This service represents the culmination of Jillian’s call to serve in ministry as a hospital chaplain at this time, and we are so excited to be able to host this special service at John Knox!
- Now that vaccinations for Covid-19 are available for people over 16 years of age, you can go to vaccine.coronavirus.in.gov to register for an appointment if you are eligible.
