A Note from Pastor Beth regarding Shayla Van Hal's departure

This week I received and accepted our organist Shayla Van Hal's resignation. We are so thankful for the many gifts of music that Shayla has given us over the last two years.

Shayla's last Sunday is August 28 as she has accepted a position with First Christian Church of Bloomington as their assistant director of music and organist. She will begin there on September 1. On August 28 we will celebrate her gift of music during worship and then have a reception following worship. As is the practice of this church, if you would like to extend a financial gift as a thank you, please make the check out to John Knox and put Shayla in the memo line.

Blessings,
Pastor Beth

Margaret Wilson Scholarship Recipients

We congratulate the Margaret Wilson Scholarship Recipients this year as they pursue their dream of furthering their education. Each student will receive $750 to support them through the' 22-'23 academic year. We celebrate Charlie Viefhaus, who is attending Vincennes University, majoring in Food Science and Culinary Arts; and Faustina Annan, who is attending Ivy Tech Community College, majoring in Human Resources. We continue to surround them in our prayers as they begin their studies this school year. We would encourage all of our members to give financially to support this scholarship and/or the Curtis/Ricketts Scholarship. If you have any questions about this, please contact Lisa Crismore at 317-291-0308.

Curtis/Rickets Scholarship

We congratulate and honor Pat Irwin (Dean) during this Sunday's worship service. She is the recipient of the Curtis/Ricketts Scholarship. We had not given this scholarship out in the past several years until this last spring when Maria Baca Vilchez received it in the spring. Under the direction of the Curtis/Ricketts family and the Scholarship Team, we decided to open up for applications again this summer. We are so excited for Pat Irwin and her call to begin Commissioned Ruling Elder (Lay Pastor) training/study with Wabash Valley Presbytery. Pat will continue to be in our prayers along with Patty McKinnon, who will also begin her training to be a Commissioned Ruling Elder.
