The Baptism of Our Lord

This Sunday at John Knox

You're invited to join us this Sunday, January 9, in-person or online - at 9:00 am for our Traditional Service or at 11:00 am for our Contemporary Service. If you wish to join us online for worship, you may do so through Facebook Live. Click here to watch our streaming live services. Please note: You do not have to have a Facebook account to view our services. Our scripture this Sunday is John 1:35-51 NRSV.

De-Decorate the Church - Saturday, January 8 - 12 pm

Unfortunately, we have to take all these beautiful decorations down after Christmas. The Chancel Guild could use your help to do so on Saturday, January 8 at 12:00 pm. We'll provide a box lunch from McAlister's Deli for your efforts! Please sign-up on the bulletin board outside the office, or contact Ann Hamel (317-750-6367;    by January 3 if you wish to help – we have to order the lunches ahead of time.

Annual Reports are due - Sunday, January 9

If you are in need of a copy of last year's report for your team or group, please email Lisa Crismore at   or Amy Willis at  .

Check Out the Mission Bulletin Board!

Be sure to stop by the Mission Bulletin Board located in the south hallway outside the sanctuary doors. You'll find a new letter from Jon and Kelly Simpson, and they're bringing us up to date on what's happening in their lives as they journey with God. Also, a letter and certificate of thanks from the Salvation Army for our participation in their Angel Tree program for 2021.   You can be counted on to nurture our Open, Caring, Community even in these difficult times. Way to go, John Knox! ~ The Mission Team

Porten / Lagerlof Wedding - January 16

The Wedding of Kelly Porten and Karl Lagerlof will be held on Sunday, January 16, at 2 pm at John Knox Presbyterian Church. You may join the wedding via the Facebook stream. They are planning to be at JKPC the following Sunday so that everyone can offer up congratulations in person to them.

Annual Congregational Meeting - January 23

On Sunday, January 23, 2022, there will be one Combined Worship Service at 10:30 am to include the Ordination & Installation of Officers, with the Annual Congregational Meeting taking place immediately following.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. We look to the coming of 2022 with reluctance and hope. We are reluctant that COVID will continue to plague us in different ways as variants continue to form. We also look with hope that God is with us and nothing can separate us from the love we have in Christ Jesus our Lord. It is his birth we have celebrated. We hold onto the promise that Christ is with us always and no matter what we face, Christ will see us through it.

2022 Giving Envelopes

Your pledge envelopes are now available to be picked up at the church. They are located on the table outside of the Parlor. If by chance you haven't previously indicated the need for envelopes, there are extra's available.

2022 Budget - Update

As of December 19, we have received $305,256 in financial commitments towards our goal of $340,000. Of the 65 pledges we have received, 52% have increased their pledge over 2021. You still have time to pledge a 2022 financial commitment to John Knox. Pledge cards are located in the literature rack outside of the church office. Thank you to all who have already made a financial commitment to John Knox for 2022.

Christmas Joy Offering

We will be collected through mid-January. This offering aids retired church ministers on fixed incomes and future church leaders among many others. A pamphlet is included with today's bulletin that includes more information about this special offering. When donating, please make your checks payable to the church and allocate it to the Christmas Joy Offering. You may support this offering until mid-January. The portion we retain for the use of the church will be allocated to the Ronald McDonald House. Thank you from the Mission Team.

"Come and See"

On Sunday, we will celebrate the Baptism of Jesus. If you are attending worship in person, please take a gemstone from the table at the sanctuary entrance. If you are worshipping with us online, you can choose a symbol of Christ's baptism (like a gemstone or bowl of water). The Gospel of John has an interesting version of Christ's Baptism. Come and see what it is all about.

Also, I want to ask folks to please consider wearing their masks while at church and stay home if you are sick in any way. We can all do our part to keep people healthy if we remain diligent and care for one another! If you are eligible to be vaccinated/boosted and have not already done so, please consider making an appointment today!

Blessings,

Pastor Beth
