Please protect your neighbor
Friends,
As we monitor the Covid virus, we see an increase in cases in our area. Just a reminder that if you are not feeling well, even if you think it is something as simple as a cold, PLEASE STAY HOME and worship via Facebook. As usual, masks and hand sanitizer are available at the church. Let's keep everyone safe and healthy.
Blessings,
Pastor Beth

9:00 am Church School
10:00 am Worship in a Blended worship style
11:00 am Fellowship with everybody
Coffee and Coloring With Pastor Beth at the MOTW on Fridays at 1 pm.
Why Coloring? What once was an activity that kept so many of us entertained as children are now resurfacing as a trend adults are coming to love. Therapeutic elements parents sought to keep their children calm or entertained before dinner are directly being applied to adults to help distract them from the daily pressures of life.
That said, here are the top 7 benefits of coloring for adults:
- Your brain experiences relief by entering a meditative state
- Stress and anxiety levels have the potential to be lowered
- Negative thoughts are expelled as you take in positivity
- Focusing on the present helps you achieve mindfulness
- Unplugging from technology promotes creation over consumption
- Coloring can be done by anyone, not just artists or creative types
- It's a hobby that can be taken with you wherever you go
So come color with Pastor Beth from 1-3 on Fridays during July! You don't have to worry about supplies; Pastor Beth comes with many coloring supplies, coloring pages, pencils, pens, and markers.
This Sunday at John Knox
You're invited to join us this Sunday, July 10, 2022, at 10:00 am for our Worship Service. If you'd like to join us online for Worship, you can do so through Facebook Live. Celebrate Mahmooda on Sunday at 11am
The family would like to invite you to attend a special celebration for Mahmooda's 80th birthday! Shhh! It is a surprise. They ask that you not bring a gift but a pitch-in dish to share. PW is providing a cake and her daughter and family are serving Mahmooda's favorite Indian foods. Please plan to stay after church and celebrate in Fellowship Hall.

Summer Creation Spirituality Book Study
Join Pastor Beth and Pastor Lisa for a summer book study of Matthew Fox’s book, Creation Spirituality. Rev. Dr. Fox is an Episcopal priest who has developed a theological framework that uncovers the ancient traditions of Creation-centered spirituality that melds Christian mysticism with the contemporary struggle for justice. As Rev. Dr. Fox states, “Creation Spirituality is not a newly invented path, but for twentieth-century Westerners, it is a newly discovered path.” We will meet on Thursdays at 7 pm. Our study will be on ZOOM with the choice to watch it either live or afterward on Facebook Live. The ZOOM link is https://us06web.zoom.us/j/5874514508. You may buy the book at church for $16.00. The books should be available beginning June 19th.
GriefShare Group
A new GriefShare group is starting at church. Join Pastor Jillian Flynn as she leads this support group. The resources in GriefShare will help you recover from your loss and look forward to rebuilding your life. Our group will meet from 5:45 -7:30 pm on Wednesdays. This group will meet for 13 weeks starting July 6. People are invited to join at any time.
Worship in the Park
We will gather for Worship outside the walls of our building, Sunday - July 24 - 11 am at Meadowood Park in Speedway. Here are the details:
When - Worship at 11:00 am - Picnic lunch afterward
Where - Meadowood Park (5700 Meadowood Drive, 46224) - Shelters 1 & 3 (park in the lot between Wheeler Elementary School and Meadowood Park, close to baseball diamond)
Lunch - The Worship Team will be providing chicken, chips, drinks, and table service. You are invited to bring a side dish, salad, or dessert to share.
What to Bring? - You are welcome to bring your own lawn chairs; there are picnic tables at the shelter, and we will bring some folding chairs from the church. You may also bring other outdoor stuff to do (frisbee, football, baseball, etc.). There is a playground for young children near the shelter.
Rain & Heat Alert Plans - If it looks like it will rain or there are heat alerts in place, we will simply meet at the church in the Fellowship Hall on the same schedule. We will make that decision by 9 am that morning and send out a notification by email and on our website/Face- book pages. We had such good experiences in 2018 and 2019 that we wish to be the Body of Christ on Sunday again outside the church walls! Take this as an opportunity, also, to invite someone new on that day, or to invite our neighbors who might be present at the park. We will have postcards available in July on Sundays for you to pick up and hand out to neighbors, friends, businesses, etc. Join us for this special day at John Knox, as we let our community know what an Open. Caring. Community we are as we worship outside the walls of our building!
Backpack Attack
While most children have just finished their school year, it's time to start thinking about what they will need to prepare them for the next, and that means Backpack Attack! This year, same as last year, monetary donations are requested. JKPC donated $1,000 towards this worthy cause last year, Let's beat that figure and help our kids. Make your checks payable to John Knox Presbyterian Church and direct them to "BACKPACK ATTACK". Please make your donations by July 25, 2022. - Mission Ministry Team
Community Picnic - August 27 from 11am-2pm
Its BACK! The Deacons will be hosting the Community Picnic but will need help from the entire church. More information will be coming later on how you can help be a part of doing great outreach to our neighbors. IMPORTANT DATES leading up to the event: Fundraiser will begin July 31 & Yard Signs will be distributed starting on August 7. Hope you can be there!
Blessings,
Lisa
