Please protect your neighbor
Friends,
As we monitor the Covid virus we are seeing an increase in cases in our area. Just a reminder that if you are not feeling well, even if you think it is something as simple as a cold, PLEASE STAY HOME and worship via Facebook. As usual, masks and hand sanitizer are available at the church. Let's keep everyone safe and healthy.
Blessings,
Pastor Beth

Let's Get Ready for Summer
Youth and families are all getting ready for summer activities and VBS is quickly approaching, June 27th - July 1st. As You are making your summer plans, please let us know if your youth would prefer to participate in either assisting through VBS or doing local mission projects.
Summer Creation Spirituality Book Study
Join Pastor Beth and Pastor Lisa for a summer book study of Matthew Fox’s book, Creation Spirituality. Rev. Dr. Fox is an Episcopal priest who has developed a theological framework that uncovers the ancient traditions of Creation-centered spirituality that melds Christian mysticism with the contemporary struggle for justice. As Rev. Dr. Fox states, “Creation Spirituality is not a newly invented path, but for twentieth-century Westerners, it is a newly discovered path.” We will meet on Thursdays at 7 pm beginning June 23rd. Our study will be on ZOOM with the choice to watch it either live or afterward on Facebook Live. The ZOOM link is https://us06web.zoom.us/j/5874514508. You may buy the book at church for $16.00. The books should be available beginning June 19th.
Summer Pic-up Choir
Summer Pic-up Choir Opportunities! July 10 and August 14! Join the choir for a morning. No stress, low commitment, and a chance to sing something easy as part of the choir! We will gather promptly 30 minutes before the start of the worship service. You will be provided with music. We have two familiar hymns planned to sing. NO audition is required! Come join us for one or both of these dates!
Vacation Bible School
Join us for Vacation Bible School on June 27-July 1 from 5:30-8:30 pm with dinner provided. Our theme will be “Knights of North Castle.” Come and join us as we seek to find strength in God by putting on our armor of truth, justice, peace, faith, and salvation! You won’t want to miss meeting our puppet mascot Sparky! Iglesia Hermandad Cristiana and Kelly and Jon Simpson have confirmed that they will be joining us for this special event. CDs are available if your attending children would like one ahead of time. Also, we have registration sheets in the office if you would like to pre-register to help beat the registration line the first night of the event. If you would like to help or donate items, please see the sign-up sheets on the bulletin outside the office.
July 3 will be a combined worship service at 10 am to celebrate the week of VBS. It will be close to the holiday, but we are hoping to get the children back to sing as well as share what was special about this week. Please come to join the celebration!
Prime Timers
The Prime Timers will be gathering on Wednesday, June 29 for a pitch-in. This is not our regular meeting time but due to having Kelly and Jon Simpson, we had to change it. The Simpsons will be sharing with us about their travels and updating us on what is happening in the ministry with World Reach. We look forward to hearing from them.
Also, to stay on schedule, we will be meeting again on Tuesday, July 5. This time we will be eating out at Charbonos in Avon. We will gather at 11:30 to carpool from the church. If you want to meet us, plan to arrive at the restaurant at noon. Please know that everyone is welcome to join us.

Curtis/Ricketts Scholarship
Curtis/Ricketts Continuing Education Scholarship for non-traditional students was started as a memorial for Judy Ricketts’ parents before her parents moved back to Indiana and before the death of her brother. They had all agreed to do this when the first parent passed away.
This scholarship is being handled by the church and funded through donations. Those eligible for the scholarship have earned a GED diploma or an HSE (High School Equivalency) and then decide to pursue continuing education or someone who earned a regular high school diploma and decides at age 26 or older to pursue continuing education. Continuing education could include college, or training in culinary arts, heating, and cooling, plumbing, auto repair, etc.
Guidelines and applications for the $500 2022 scholarship are available in the church office. The deadline for submitting the applications is July 30, 2022. JKPC members will receive first priority, then relatives of JKPC members, people referred by JKPC members, and finally people referred by the Wayne Township Adult Basic Education Department. All applicants must already have or be seeking a loan, grant, or other scholarship. Documentation must be provided for any of these forms of funding and attached to the scholarship application. Proof of acceptance into a college or program must also accompany the application.
This scholarship is supported by donations. Everyone is welcome to contribute to support a student in fulfilling their dream of continuing their education. If you are interested, please make your check out to John Knox Presbyterian Church, and in the memo line note that it is to go toward the “Curtis/Ricketts Scholarship.” This can be given at any time throughout the year.
Thank you for your help, and please feel free to talk to Lisa Crismore if you need more information, or would like application material.
