This Sunday at John Knox

You're invited to join us this Sunday, November 14th, either in-person or online - at 9:00 am for our Traditional Service, or at 11 am for our Contemporary Service. This Sunday we will have communion so, if you are joining us online please have juice and bread available in observance of the Lord's Supper. If you wish to join us online for worship, you may do so through Facebook Live and our website. Click here to watch our streaming live services. Please note: You do not have to have a Facebook account to view our services.

Congregational Meeting on November 21 - 9:55 am

The Session has called a Congregational meeting for November 21 at 9:55 a.m. for the election of church officers.  The Church Officer Nominating Committee will present the following people as nominees: 

Elder – Patty McKinnon, Matthew Whitaker, Don Charboneau Jr., Barbara Williams, Rob Wistendahl (two-year term), Jon Barnhouse (one-year term) 

Deacon – Janet Norris, Teresa Gorrell, Barbara Weetman, Joann Marasco 

Trustee – Barbara Austin, Dave Lindgren 

Nominations from the floor will be accepted only if the person nominated has agreed to serve prior to the meeting.  

The Storehouse Special Thanksgiving Request

It is not too late to help support The Storehouse to prepare for the Thanksgiving holiday food distribution. This year they are requesting a financial donation. If you wish to help them out with their holiday request your check should be written payable to the Church and allocate the funds to The Storehouse. This is a special request for the Thanksgiving holiday only. We will still have Food on the First and your food donations are greatly appreciated. If you have any questions please see any member of the Mission Team, Dan Bourne, Tim Graves, Carol McKeown, or Bev Ray. 

New Beginnings - Veterans Day Collection

In honor of our veterans, the Mission Team invites everyone to make a financial donation to the New Beginnings Fund.  Our veterans have given so much to our country, and this is an opportunity we have to thank them by helping the least fortunate in our midst.  As you can see every month, we are assisting many people in our community with food, clothing, transportation, and other pressing needs.  Mark your donation “New Beginnings” and thank you for your continued, generous support which gives hope and peace to so many in our community. 

Gift Card Basket

Time for a Raffle!   The PW Coordinating Team is asking for donations of gift cards (any kind), now through DEC. 5th.   Sandy Jordan will build us one of her great baskets and we will hold the drawing for it on Dec. 12th, after the Circle City Ringers perform.  Tickets can be purchased starting Nov. 14th through Dec. 12th, cost, $1.00 per ticket.  On-line viewers are invited to participate, simply mail your check to the Church, payable to PWJKPC, note Gift Card Basket and the number of tickets you want on the check.  Your tickets will be held in the Church office until the day of the drawing unless you want your stubs mailed back to you. If you want them returned please include a note requesting them with your check.  ON-LINE PARTICIPATNS ONLY - PLEASE NOTE your check must be received IN THE CHURCH OFFICE no later than MONDAY, DECEMBER 6th.  This allows for a delay in mailing time and insurers that your tickets will be included in the drawing on Dec. 12th.  You need not be present to win!   A basket makes a great gift OR multiple gifts OR keep it for yourself and enjoy lots of great food, shopping, gasoline, movies, the possibilities are endless!   Any questions, see anyone on the PW Coordinating Team.  Thank you for supporting PW's mission and ministry.

Prime Timers - November 16

The Prime Timers will gather for a Thanksgiving meal on Tuesday, November 16 at 12pm (note: this is later than our usual meeting). This will be held at the church. You are invited to bring a salad, side dish or dessert. Jim and Bonnie Graves will provide the turkey, stuffing and homemade noodles. Please sign-up and let us know what you plan to bring; contact the church office if you are planning to attend (317-291-0308). Everyone is welcome to come and get in the holiday spirit! 

Youth Event - November 20

What time is it? It's youth time. On Saturday, November 20th, we will meet at the church at 1:30pm to go to Dave and Busters in Greenwood for a day out. The plan is to return by 4pm. The cost is on the church, so it is FREE!! Youth invite a friend to join us. We will have fun. Be bless, be well, be there.  

Community Thanksgiving Service - November 21

We will celebrate Thanksgiving as the ecumenical family of faith, gathering with churches throughout the Speedway community on Sunday, November 21, at 7pm.  Speedway Baptist Church, 2986 Moller Road Speedway, IN. The offering collected will support Storehouse Food Pantry. Mark your calendars and plan on celebrating in worship God’s goodness! 

Hanging of the Greens Saturday - November 27

The Worship Team and Chancel Guild invite everyone in the church to join us in decorating the church for Advent and Christmas. You are invited to come on Saturday, November 27 for Hanging of the Greens. We will gather at 9am. Doughnuts, coffee and other drinks will be provided. We will work throughout the morning placing decorations around the church. We hope you will join us for this great opportunity for fellowship. Thanks for your willingness to assist in making the church look beautiful for Christmas this season!

The Salvation Army Angel Tree

In early November, the Hat & MItten Tree will become the ANGEL TREE once more, giving us a way to participate in this wonderful program of giving through the Salvation Army.  Adopt an Angel (or two), purchase the items requested by the child and return your purchases to the Church no later than December 8, 2021. If you prefer to make a monetary donation, return your Angel to the Church with your check attached, payable to the Salvation Army, purpose “Angel Tree”. Thank you for helping to bring Christmas Joy to local children.

Hat and Mitten Tree

THANK YOU!  53 Hats, 83 pair of Gloves, 7 Scarves and 1 pair of Ear Muffs were donated to the Hat & Mitten Tree this year.  Your generosity is helping keep our neighborhood children toasty warm.  Thank you from the Mission Team.  And special thanks to Amy Willis for your help.

Circle City Ringers

Your JKPC Coordinating Team is excited to welcome back the CIRCLE CITY RINGERS to our Sanctuary to perform their uplifting Christmas music that always brings us so much joy.  Mark your calendar for Sunday, December 12, 2021 at 3:30 p.m.  This concert will NOT be streamed online due to licensing issues, so prepare to enjoy this performance live and in person. See You There!
