Gift Card Donations Needed
The PW will be raffling off a gift card and candy basket on December 18 at the Christmas Banquet. We need gift cards. If you would like to donate gift cards, please give them to Sandy Jordan or anyone on the PWCT. We would appreciate receiving your donation by November 27, 2022.
Christmas Program
Christmas is coming! The annual Christmas play is on December 4 at 6:30 pm and will be a "Paper Bag Celebration!" Of course, some Christmas carols will get us in the holiday spirit! More exciting things to come, but we are asking you to save your paper grocery bags (you may ask for extra at the store). However, we can use plastic as well. Please mark your calendars, as we hope to see you there.
Parent's Morning Out
John Knox Church is offering 3 hours of childcare on December 10 from 9 am-12 pm while parents Christmas shop during the holidays. There will be games, snacks, craft time, and a children's holiday movie. Your child must be registered to attend. Ages 2-12. Registration forms are found on the table outside the church office or on the church's website. The deadline to register is December 4. If you are available and interested in helping with this parent's morning out, please get in touch with the church office at
or 317-291-0308 and leave your name and phone number. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to get in touch with Ann Hamel at 317-750-6367. We will reach out to you once we know the number of children we have registered. Thanks for your help.
Blue Christmas Service - Tuesday, December 13 - 6:30 pm
For many, the holiday season is not an especially happy time, as it brings back memories of loved ones no longer here. While Christmas is often filled with joy, it also can be filled with pain, sadness, and grief. This year, we will come together again in a time of worship to acknowledge those feelings in a "Blue Christmas Service." This will be a service of scripture, music, and prayer. We hope you will feel led to come and share in this time of worship as we offer all of who we are to God in this time of preparation for the Christ Child.
Prime Timers
We will gather on Tuesday, December 13, at 11:45 am to carpool downtown to Ayres Tearoom at the Indiana State Museum. Our lunch reservations are at 12:30 pm. Please RSVP by calling the office or letting Lisa know. Don't hesitate to contact Lisa Crismore if you have any questions. Everyone is welcome!
Poinsettias & Wreaths - Due December 18
We will have eight live wreaths to decorate the entrances to the church, the sanctuary, and the fellowship hall this Advent and Christmas. If you would like to donate one or more of these, they are $14 each. Christmas poinsettias may also be ordered now, and they are $10 a plant. Please make your check out to the church, mark it "Wreaths & Poinsettias," who you wish it to be in honor or memory of, and turn it in to the church office. Thank you!
Circle City Ringers
Save the date and time; Sunday, December 18, The Presbyterian Women have some exciting news. One, The Circle City Bell Ringers will be returning to entertain us at 3:30 pm in the sanctuary, and two, for the first time since 2019, Harry Greene will be catering his delicious meal following the program. Dinner is expected to be served around 5:00 pm.
During their performance, a Freewill Offering will be taken up for the Circle City Bell Ringers.
Tickets for the banquet will be $12.00 per person and will go on sale November 20 – December 11 in the hallway after service, or you may phone the church office for reservations. Checks should be made out to PWJKC for the banquet. Please plan to attend the performance and the dinner and remember to invite your friends. The afternoon is open to the public. Reservations are required for the dinner—a perfect event for the Christmas season.
Bell Ringers for the Salvation Army
Bell Ringers are needed for the Salvation Army Red Kettle Drive! JKPC is scheduled to ring the bell on Monday, December 19, 2022, from 12; 00 pm (Noon) to 6:00 pm, at the Speedway Kroger Store on Crawfordsville Road. A sign-up sheet will be posted on the bulletin board outside the office. Let's sign up and ring those bells for this worthy cause. See Nancy Orme or anyone on the PWCT if you have questions.
Birthday Card Shower
Norma Kraft turns 98 years old! The Deacons would like to ask everyone to shower Norma with birthday cards for her birthday on December 28. Her address is 5103 Cold Harbor Drive, Apt. 142, Tallahassee, FL 32312. Norma was a very active member of John Knox before she moved to Florida to be close to her daughter, Marcia. She is still very alert and stays up to date with John Knox through the Tidings. She would love to receive some birthday cheer!
Please Protect Your Neighbor
Friends,
As we monitor the Covid virus, we see an increase in cases in our area and flu and RSV. Just a reminder that if you are not feeling well, even if you think it is something as simple as a cold, PLEASE STAY HOME and worship via Facebook. As usual, masks and hand sanitizer are available at the church. Let's keep everyone safe and healthy.
